Blues Dancing and Its African American Roots
bluesCENTRAL was involved in the addition of the new Blues Dancing exhibit at the local Spurlock Museum in Urbana, Illinois. This exhibit showcases the African American influences on the popular dance practice.
The exhibit opened on March 6th as the kickoff to bluesCENTRAL’s annual SnowMELT Dance Weekend. In an effort of continuing education, the Spurlock Museum hosted our beginner track dance lessons where individuals learned the basics of blues music and dancing.
The Spurlock Museum is located at 600 S. Gregory St. in Urbana, IL. For more information on the Blues Dancing exhibit or for a trip to the museum, please visit the Spurlock Museum’s website.
